Introduction

TASIS The American International School in England is a leading independent, co-educational school near London for day (ages 3-18) and boarding pupils (ages 14-18). Students from more than 50 countries contribute to a unique and dynamic learning environment, thriving in an atmosphere that encourages character development and academic achievement and celebrates the school’s international population.
n addition to a broad-based American curriculum with a global perspective, TASIS The American International School in England offers the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma program to qualified students. This comprehensive two-year program develops critical thinking and research skills. Increasingly popular as an alternative to A-levels, universities around the world recognize its rigor and the level of creative thinking that it fosters. Advanced Placement (AP) classes, which follow American College Board standards, are another curricular option. Many American and Canadian universities will award advance credit for successful completion of AP courses, which earn UCAS Tariff points similar to A-levels.

About the school

TASIS is a family of international schools that welcomes young people from all nationalities to an educational community which fosters a passion for excellence along with mutual respect and understanding. Consistent with the vision of its founder, M. Crist Fleming, TASIS is committed to transmitting the heritage of Western Civilization and world cultures: the creations, achievements, traditions, and ideals from the past that offer purpose in the present and hope for the future.

TASIS England’s 46-acre campus provides excellent facilities for its comprehensive

program of competitive and recreational sports and diverse artistic pursuits, drama

productions, and musical performances. Students participate in engaging after-school

activities such as music, art, drama, robotics, recreational sports, and student-led clubs and

organizations. Conveniently located near London, the School uses the UK and Europe as

extensions of the classroom and gives students of all ages many opportunities for cultural

excursions and travel. Our students also participate in leadership and community service

programs, developing an understanding of the importance of service to others.

The Council of International Schools, The New England Association of Schools and Colleges, The International Baccalaureate Organisation, Boarding Schools' Association, Independent Schools Association, British Association of Independent Schools with International Students, IB Schools and Colleges Association

Students form lifelong friendships as they live and work together and participate in the

wide range of weekend activities available. Rooms are typically shared between two or

three students, each with a different mother tongue to encourage the use of English and

to share and celebrate our diversity within a global community. All meals are provided,

and the on-campus Health Centre ensures that nursing care is available if required

Academic life

Upper School (ages 14–18)

Students have a choice of academic pathways, culminating in the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma or the American High School Diploma. Choices within the curricula include Advanced Placement (AP) and honors-level courses. One-to-one university counseling opens up a world of possibilities and assists our students through every step of the selection and application process. TASIS graduates gain acceptance to excellent universities in the UK, the US, and worldwide.

Middle School (ages 10–14)

During these transitional years, students need guidance and understanding as they change and grow from childhood to adolescence. Students follow a full schedule of core courses (English, Mathematics, Science, French or Spanish, and History and Geography) along with additional subjects that include Technology, Art, Music, Drama, and Physical Education, as well as several other optional courses. The Middle School house system provides many opportunities for students to develop leadership and collaborative skills as they work, play, and socialize with their peers in friendly competitions, charity fund-raising, and community activities. The sports program is designed to encourage participation and skill development.

Lower School (ages 3–10)

The Lower School curriculum is designed to foster the creativity and natural curiosity of young students. The core subjects – Literacy, Mathematics, Science, History and Geography – are supplemented by specialist classes such as Spanish, Technology, Art, Music, Drama, and Physical Education. Educational excursions and field trips complement and enhance the joy of learning through the academic program. As the children work together in the classroom and socialize with their peers in after-school activities, they are guided by the School’s emphasis on Core Virtues such as respect, responsibility, honesty, generosity, and perseverance. Within the Lower School area of campus, the children have their own dining room and playground, a well-resourced library, a dedicated science center, and a MakerSpace classroom designed for exploration of the STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics) subjects.
