Academic life
The Sixth Form Lounge (with a full screen cinema facility) and Sixth Form Cafeteria on the ground floor provide a most pleasant environment for free time and social activities, as well as for meetings of the numerous Sixth Form societies. Our Sixth Form Boarding School students are drawn from a wonderfully diverse range of social and ethnic backgrounds, yet all share a thirst to achieve their full academic potential to attain their varied hopes and ambitions for the future. Life in the Sixth Form Boarding School is a new, exciting and challenging experience. The Sixth Form Boarding School curriculum is enriched with complementary studies, which includes a general Religious Studies programme, lectures on moral and ethical issues and talks on Higher Education and Careers, Physical Education and an extensive extra-curricular programme. Sixth Formers have their own personal tutor who will monitor their academic progress. Classes are small and relationships with staff are relaxed; independent study habits are fostered and Sixth Formers are encouraged to think of themselves as senior members of the school community.
Sport and culture
We have a number of sportsmen and women in netball, hockey, rugby and cricket county academies and national teams. We have strong links with Leicestershire County Cricket, Loughborough Lightning, Charnwood Netball Club and Leicestershire County Hockey Club, which is enabling us to develop our sporting provision further as well as hosting our own netball academy, with the assistance of Loughborough Lightning players.
As well as our strong sporting links, we have wonderful facilities, including two all-weather pitches, swimming pool, synthetic athletics track and plenty of rugby and cricket pitches. We want to offer more young sportsmen and sportswomen the opportunity to fulfil their potential and benefit from the coaching, facilities, and way of life at Ratcliffe College through Sports Scholarships and Bursaries.
