Introduction
Mount House School in Tavistock, Devon is one of best boarding schools in South West England. It is a co-educational boarding schools for boys and girls.
Mount Kelly, is located on the edge of Dartmoor National Park, and connects academic mastery with quite a number of opportunities outside the classroom, as well as provides a full pastoral guidance. Our school is fully co-educational for pupils aged between 3 and 18 and we can offer day, flexible and full boarding.
Our expectations are really high and this is what gives us the power to encourage our pupils to learn more and to believe in their own possibilities, and to be persistent and to present ambition, both inside and outside the classroom. Our students feel happy and precious and this gives them a huge deal of self-confidence and enthusiasm which is needed to learn and to be successful.
Kelly College was founded in 1877 after Admiral Benedictus Marwood Kelly left the a huge part of his buildings to Trustees, founding a charity which he thought should be named 'The Kelly College’, and which should serve for education of the 'sons of Naval officers and other gentlemen’. In order to present his good will William the 8th Duke of Bedford gifted 20 acres of his Tavistock estate for the College to exists.
This great boarding school is located on the area of more than150 acres, and includes facilities, such as: two all-weather pitches, grass pitches for rugby, football, cricket and rounders, indoor sports hall with two squash courts, indoor training centre and viewing gallery, indoor and outdoor cricket nets, cross-country courses, netball courts, two fives courts, a nine-hole golf course, a full-size indoor swimming pool and a heated outdoor swimming pool.

Academic life
We combine high expectations with accurate monitoring of progress, carefully considered enrichment activities and individually tailored support to ensure that every child, across the ability range, meets and often exceeds those expectations.
In Years 7 and 8 our pupils study at the Prep moving seamlessly to the College in Year 9. The academic programme for these year groups is designed to enrich and extend and to encourage debate, critical thinking and the exploration of new ideas. We aim to instil good work habits that will provide a strong foundation from which to progress to GCSE.
The importance of independent learning is fundamental to teaching styles throughout the School.

Mount Kelly offers first-class sporting facilities, including three all-weather pitches (two of which are floodlight), grass pitches for rugby, football, cricket and rounders, a 700m2 indoor sports hall, four squash courts, indoor and outdoor cricket nets including a permanent astro training facility, three cross-country courses, netball courts (one indoors), 50m and 25m indoor swimming pools and a heated outdoor pool. Simply Outdoors, our outdoor adventure centre, features a high ropes course and a shooting range. Our location on the edge of Dartmoor National Park provides an excellent facility for our keen cross-country runners.
