Academic life

All subjects across the GCSE and A-Level curriculums are taught in English, with the main aim of supporting students to achieve the qualifications required in order to access top universities in the UK and beyond. Former alumni of this top international boarding school have recently gone on to attend Russell Group universities in the UK, as well as Harvard in the United States. With a core focus on developing international students’ English language skills, students benefit from up to 10 additional classes of English support per week. It is this attention to English language development and a carefully planned curriculum, which enables our students to confidently access UK universities. All of academic staff are specialists in teaching their subject to international students.

Sport and culture

The extracurricular activities available are extremely varied and include clubs such as basketball, dance, debate club, baking, yoga, science discussion and choir,go-karting, paint balling, quad biking, horse riding, kayaking, football and badminton. The students wishing to participate in a sport are given the opportunity to play in the ISSA tournament (International School Sports Association), which occurs over three days in another country.

Summer Boarding Camps England
This summer school for international students is aimed at boys and girls from 10 – 17 years old, and these students come from all over the world to improve their English, meet students from other countries and explore different parts of the UK. Every year around 25 different nationalities come to Saint Michael’s for the junior summer school and many of these students return summer after summer. The emphasis in all the classes during this summer boarding school is on speaking and listening. In the afternoons and evenings after classes a variety of activities and sports are organised on the campus. These include football, basketball, volleyball, dodgeball, tennis, badminton, arts and crafts, swimming, discos, quiz evenings, ‘Slip and Slide’, Karaoke, Bouncy Castle, BBQ and many more! On Wednesdays and Saturdays there are full-day excursions. These are to places such as London, Oxford, Stratford-upon-Avon and Manchester. Each excursion includes some free time as well as a cultural activity, e.g. a visit to Shakespeare’s birthplace or an organised tour of London. On Friday afternoons we have a half day excursion to a local town or city such as Hereford, Worcester, Ludlow etc or a trip to a local museum or place of interest.
