Hawaii Preparatory School is a co-educational boarding school for boys and girls in Kamuela, Hawaii, USA. Founded in 1949, Hawaii Preparatory Academy is an independent coeducational school which provides a full choice of possibilities for its students from kindergarten through grade 12. Hawai’i Preparatory Academy was founded on March 12, 1949, when Episcopal Bishop Harry Kennedy and a group of Big Island citizens signed the Articles of Incorporation for Hawai’i Episcopal Academy. The school has grown from five boarding students in a World War II building in Waimea to more than 700 students on two campuses encompassing more than 220 acres in the midst of the world-famous Parker Ranch.
The HPA Upper Campus is located on 220 acres in the foothills of the Kohala Mountains and is home to the Upper School (grades 9-12 and postgraduate). Students of this to boarding school enjoy the beauty of the campus and the multitude of opportunities the facilities provide. Academic facilities include 22 classrooms, a lecture hall, Institute of English Studies (IES) classroom, music and rehearsal rooms, science laboratories, and an engineering garage.
Village Campus
The Village Campus encompasses eight acres and houses 13 classrooms for students in grades K-8, including music, drama, art, and computer rooms. Other facilities include the Lynn Taylor Library; the dining room, which seats 120; single- and double-room dormitories; Isaacs Art Center.
Students at the Village Campus also use Upper Campus facilities, including the gym, tennis courts, swimming pool, and horse stable and fields, along with Davies Chapel, Gates Performing Arts Center, and the Energy Lab.

There are three residence halls at the Upper Campus. All rooms have telephones, computer hookups, and high-speed Internet access. Herbert M. and Laura N. Dowsett Pool
Outdoor, heated, 25 meters x 25 yards, with two, one-meter diving boards. A pool manager supervises during lap times and classes.
Rutgers Tennis Center
Four covered, lighted courts. Honored by the United States Tennis Association (USTA) as one of the best facilities in the U.S. (1999).
Cross Country Course
The 3.1 mile cross country course winds through the HPA campus and includes a challenging hill along with downhills and flats.
Stanford W. Shutes Track
The Stanford W. Shutes Track, opened in September 2010, is a 400-meter, eight-lane, all-weather synthetic surface track with synthetic infields in the “D” zones at each end for the high jump, pole vault, and long jump track events.

Two vessels (22 and 17 feet) and a 13-foot inflatable used for scuba, marine biology, Sea Turtle Research Program and student activities.
Outrigger Canoe
Kai Hala‘i (referring to the calm sea) is the HPA outrigger canoe used by students. The canoe was acquired by HPA and named by the team during 2004-2005.
