Introduction
Bournemouth Collegiate School is a co-educational independent day and boarding school based on two sites in Poole and Bournemouth, Dorset on the southern coast of England. The prep school (ages 2-11) is located in Poole and the senior school (ages 11-18) in the Bournemouth suburb of Southbourne. BCS is the only independent co-ed school offering education from Prep to Sixth Form in the Bournemouth & Poole area, close to both town and beaches. This famous boarding school offers an enviable extracurricular programme & work hard to develop the potential of every pupil & bring out the best in everyone. About the school
Bournemouth Collegiate School was created in September 2009 by the merger of Wentworth College in Bournemouth and Uplands School in Poole. Wentworth College had joined the United Church Schools Trust in August 2008, and Uplands School in June 2009 – it was UCST that brought the two together to create a new school
Boys Boarding at BCS caters for boys (and young men) from Year 6 to 13. It is located right next to the impressive BCS Sports Hall on the school campus, with the bedrooms wrapping around, over two floors.
The top floor is exclusively for the young men of the Sixth Form and the lower floor for Years 6 to 11. The house has 38 rooms in total, with 26 double bed rooms, 11 single bed rooms, including 4 flats with en-suite facilities. The rooms are modern, comfortable, well-equipped and homely.
There are 3 washrooms and two kitchens, in which hot drinks, snacks and meals can be prepared, that service the two floors. There are planned developments to create an open communal area on one of the floors as well as a new TV lounge in the house. Protected Wi-Fi internet access is available allowing boarders to communicate with friends and family as well as undertake necessary research needed for school life.
Girls Boarding is located on the upper floor of the main school’s historic building. We cater for girl boarders from Year 6 to 13. Younger girls share dormitories with modern shower rooms nearby. All of our Sixth Form girls have en-suite single or double bedrooms.
The rooms are modern and comfortable, well equipped and homely. They are cleaned daily. We have our own common room with big television and computers and a large Atrium, the heartbeat of our house, where girls can relax and socialise with friends and houseparents. We also have our own kitchen in which hot drinks, snacks and meals can be prepared.
The Girls Boarding House has WI-FI internet access allowing boarders to communicate with friends and family as well as undertake necessary research needed for school.

Academic life
BCS offers a number of programmes of study that are particularly applicable to students from outside the United Kingdom. These are detailed below:
A standard 2 year A Level course in Years 12 and 13 leading to 3 or 4 A2 qualifications
Pre A Level Sixth Form course
A standard 2 year GCSE course (years 10 and 11)
A BCS bespoke IGCSE / GCSE course
All pupils will take Mathematics and English. For the majority of pupils there is the opportunity to study two GCSEs, one in English Language and one in English Literature. Pupils will also study Science which can lead to a double award qualification (equivalent to two GCSEs), although some pupils may wish to be considered for the Triple Science. Pupils have a choice of 4 subjects (3 for pupils who are selected for Triple Award Science) in addition to the core subjects mentioned above.

Art, Business, Computer Science, Drama, Design Technology, First Certificate in English (for non-native English speakers), Food Technology, French, Geography, History, Music, Physical Education, Religious Studies, Triple Science, Spanish
The school has also provision for native speakers to study German, Chinese or Russian to GCSE level.
Sport and culture
BCS Sports Academy is a unique programme whereby pupils can combine their studies with high level coaching from professionals in a number of sports. A personal school timetable gives talented sportsmen and women the opportunity to receive both coaching and an excellent education in school hours thus allowing for a life outside of school and training. BCS have unique links with both Premiership Football & Rugby Clubs.
BCS has excellent sporting facilities, including access to the sandy beaches of Bournemouth, 5 minutes’ walk away, this adds a unique and exciting dimension to our sports facilities.
