Virginia Episcopal School (VES) is a private, co-educational college preparatory, boarding and day school in Lynchburg, Virginia, United States. It is a mixed preparatory boarding for males and females of 9 to 12 grades. This small boarding school is an intentionally small, globally diverse educational community dedicated to excellence in student engagement, innovative learning and faculty support and growth. The aim of the school is to be the best small boarding school in the Mid-Atlantic and Southeast regions. The school’s is to develop excellence in academics while fostering leadership qualities in its students.
This small boarding school was founded in 1916 where it still stands on the original tract of 168 acre land. Current enrollment is 260 students with a student to teacher ratio of only 5:1. Virginia Episcopal School also takes pride in its diversity where minority groups comprise 30% of the population including international students from 20 countries. More than 70 percent of the student population resides in purpose-built dormitories.
