Stover School was founded on its present site in 1932.Until 1994 the school was a day and boarding school for girls aged 11 – 18 years. A Nursery was opened in 1994 and a Junior School for girls the following year. Junior aged boys were admitted in 2002, originally being taught in parallel classes to the girls. Since then, boys have been progressively assimilated into the Senior School, so that, today, both the Preparatory School and the Senior School are almost fully co-educational. A new Boarding House for boys has recently been constructed. The school celebrates its 80th Jubilee in 2012 and looks forward to an exciting future, whist reflecting on its proud heritage of past years.
Mansion House – sometimes referred to as the boys' house – houses the youngest boarders upwards. A grand marble staircase leads you up to the Boarding area, and the house is part of the original Stover Lodge built by James Templer.
Mansion house has 33 beds, and dorm sizes range from 4 – 7 beds. All rooms have a study space for each boarder. The junior boarders have the option of using the Library or Bellever room for study, both of which are just below Mansion House. The junior boys are supported with the ‘junior’ needs being taken in to account. There is a very homely and personal feel to the house.
The common room is the hub of activity with a kitchen area, 4 computers – all with Skype access, and lots of sofas and comfy cushions!
Park House – sometimes referred to as the Senior girls' house. Park House has 41 beds, and the house is a majority of senior girls, with rooms and dorms ranging from 1 – 7 beds. Year 13 students are allocated the small number of single rooms but many choose to share.
Being the ‘senior house’, the girls are afforded a little more freedom whilst maintaining a well-structured and nurturing environment. A key focus in Park House is academic rigour, with many of the girls heading on to University. The 6th form area of the house has its own kitchen where the girls can practise for those University days!
The common room is the hub of the house with a kitchen area, TV and computers.
