Stamford Schools are uniquely structured to provide a tailored and personalised education at every level. Boys and girls are taught together at junior school, separately at senior school, and together again in the Sixth Form – the Diamond Structure.
Through to the end of Key Stage 2, all pupils follow the National Curriculum with the addition of modern foreign language teaching and a good proportion of games. In the Senior Schools, there is a broad base to GCSE curriculum choice, and students are encouraged to maintain a breadth to their experience. At sixth-form level, the two Senior Schools teach their pupils in mixed classes. This has enabled us to offer 26 A-level subjects across a very broad range of subjects along with two BTECs. This approach creates a very different atmosphere to our sixth-form teaching and prepares our students for the world beyond school.

Each School benefits from its own site. The Junior School and Nursery is set among fields and has joint use of a sports hall and swimming pool in addition to its own playing fields. The Stamford High School site has all the main facilities that you would expect from an 11 to 18 education for girls and includes a drama studio, music school, gymnasium, sports hall, floodlit artificial hockey pitch and indoor swimming pool. Stamford School is set in extensive playing fields and additionally has an AstroTurf, sports hall, observatory, gymnasium, art centre and technology block. Significant building development includes a vibrant sixth-form centre and Research and Learning Centre, providing a state-of-the-art environment for independent study. There is also a sports centre complete with 25-metre indoor swimming pool and fitness suite. A Performing Arts Centre reflects the popularity of the arts and provides performance and rehearsal space.
The Schools have eight boarding houses, which are split by age and gender. From the age of 8 until 11, pupils enter our co-educational junior boarding house, which is situated on the same site as the Junior School. This is – as with all our boarding houses – a family-run house, managed by a husband and wife team. Almost all our houseparents are teachers at the Schools. At the age of 11, pupils move on to single-gender houses, again based on their respective sites, and are looked after by a staff who set out to create a family-type atmosphere. Both Senior Schools run senior houses where many of the pupils enjoy the benefit of single accommodation, which includes en-suite facilities.
The Schools are committed to a wide and broad-based activity programme. A number of activities take place during lunch times and after school, and at the weekend the Schools seek to provide an extended activity programme. On Saturday mornings, as well as regular sporting fixtures, there are formally organised activities across the whole age range from the age of eight. Activities vary according to the pupil’s interest and available expertise. Recently, over 80 different activities have been offered and these have been as diverse as badminton, astronomy, bridge, sailing, chess, golf, and language clubs.
Stamford is conveniently situated near to many main transport routes. By road, the A1 leads to London and the North. There is a regular train service into London via Peterborough. Stansted, Heathrow, Luton and East Midlands International Airports are within easy travelling distance, some with direct rail links
