Introduction

Queen’s College in Taunton, Somerset is a co-educational boarding school for boys and girls in England. One of great boarding schools in UK. In addition to the usual range of subjects, including the introduction of a second modern foreign language, pupils are taught basic study skills and follow a PHSME (Personal, Social, Health and Moral Education) course, which continues through Years 10 and 11. ICT skills are developed across the curriculum in a wide range of subjects. In most subjects, GCSE courses start in Year 10. This famous UK boarding school offers a core curriculum plus a good number of options to enable pupils to follow their areas of interest and expertese. The Queen’s curriculum is kept broadly in line with the National Curriculum requirements. Pupils of this boarding school in Somerset are actively encouraged to become involved in the numerous clubs, societies and activities that are available throughout the week. This one of the best British boarding schools  prides itself on offering a huge range of artistic, cultural, academic and sporting activities that take place in the evenings, at weekends and during the school holidays. Each term a list of activities is provided for pupils and parents, posted both at school and online. The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Scheme is particularly well supported. A great many staff  of this boarding school in Somerset are involved in DoE, in ways ranging from providing suggestions for reading to supporting hiking across Dartmoor or kayaking in Scotland. The school is proud to have achieved the impressive milestone of having over 300 pupils reach the elusive Gold Award standard, a record for schools in Somerset. In Year 10 every pupil is expected to be involved in DoE at Bronze level; for older groups DoE is optional but strongly recommended. Community service and charitable work is important at this private boarding school. Pupils organise their charitable activities on a House basis and there are numerous activities during the year, from 'Strictly Come Dancing’ to cake sales or a car wash business, that raise a total of several thousand pounds each term. Many co-curricular activities are off-site at the weekends and on summer evenings. Staff willingly give up their time to run activities as diverse as rock-climbing and computer war-gaming.
