Lucton School in Lucton, Herefordshire, UK is a co-educational boarding school for boys and girls for up to 18 years old. History Lucton School was founded in 1708 by John Pierrepont, who was a prominent London Vintner. The School is now an independent, co-educational boarding and day school for pupils aged from 6 months to 18 years. The School is a respected and registered charity and is a member of the Independent Schools Association, the Independent Schools Council and the Boarding Schools As-sociation. The main goal of this independent boarding school is to bring all of the best qualities and characteristics of our students by recognising their unique gifts, talents and abilities. At Lucton School we want to provide a secure, happy environ-ment where pupils can develop academically, socially, intellectually and physically. We respect basic human values which are: honesty, truthfulness and respect. Our spiritual guidance is available for every student and worship takes place every day and once in a month on Sunday Services. This boarding school is based on Christian values and rules. Nevertheless, Lucton welcomes and invites students of all faiths and give them all the necessary spiritual and intellectual guidance which they may need. Moral Through the daily assemblies, curriculum teaching in PSE and the House Tutor system, this Christian boarding school provide a support of students, in the aspects of honesty, integrity and a clear understanding of what is right and what is wrong. The Sixth Form boarding School represents an exceptional opportunity for students to master their abilities and skills which they have a chance to master at our school. Our great team of professional teachers is dedicated to providing the best possible Sixth Form education and is uniquely devoted to provide personalised programmes and educational curriculum. Individuality is also keenly encouraged. There are many opportunities for students to express their creativity in our well-equipped art rooms, and for those eager to perform, we have a wide variety of choirs and orchestras to take part in, as well as chances to act on stage in our termly drama productions. Class sizes are small, with the vast majority of lessons throughout the school being taught in groups of between 12 and 14. At Lucton, we also place a particular emphasis on equipping students with valuable life skills. Time management and study skills are embedded from their first day.
Rugby is one of the oldest sports on offer at Lucton, and the school has enjoyed a proud association with the game for many years, in part through our connection to Luctonians Rugby Club; originally founded by old boys of the school more than 70 years ago. Football is a much loved favourite of the sports programme at Lucton, and one of the few games that is played all year round, across all ages, and with unbridled enthusiasm! Lucton has an excellent reputation for swimming and whilst some come to Lucton with very little experience in the water, we also attract competitive swimmers specifically because of the programme we offer. We are fortunate to have our own indoor heated swimming pool located next to the senior boarding house, which was officially opened by the Duke of Wessex. All children from Transition to Year 8 have the opportunity to swim twice a week throughout the school year as part of their curriculum, whilst older students also have regular access to the pool. Rooted in Native American culture, Lacrosse is a fast-paced game of speed and agility. Players attempt to score a goal by getting their ball into a net and passing a goalie in a similar way to football; however, they use a lacrosse stick and much smaller ball! Since the skills of hockey, netball, and football are all rolled into one, it makes for an exciting game. Played in the winter and spring terms both on grass and astro turf, Hockey is available to all from Year 3 onwards. During the spring term, we host the annual ISA National Triathlon, attracting nearly 300 competitors from independent schools across the UK.
