In Years 7 and 8 (age 11 – 13) all pupils follow the same course, at the
heart of which are the quaker values and the Learner Profile.
The curriculum comprises of the core subjects, approaches to learning,
global communications and creativity, action and service (CAS). They
will also study English, science, mathematics, creative arts: art,
drama, music; technology: design technology, textile design;
humanities:geography, history, religious education (beliefs and values);
ICT; a modern foreign language (MFL): Global Communications (Year 7),
German, Spanish or Mandarin, sport and physical education and personal
social health and careers education which is known as 'Your Life’ at
Leighton Park. In Year 8 the expectation is that all students will study
French as a second MFL in addition to whichever language they started
in Year 7.
In addition to the core subjects, all students have CAS electives sessions, where they participate in games and activities.
Year 9
In Year 9 (age 13 – 14) pupils continue to follow a broad curriculum
which builds on their previous learning, and extends well beyond the

Sixth Form
All pupils follow a GCSE course comprising nine or ten subjects
selected from a wide range of options. These are made up of core
subjects, which all pupils must study, and optional subjects, from which

By road
If using a SatNav please use postcode RG2 7DE which will bring
you into the school via the Shinfield Road entrance. For the Pepper
Lane entrance use RG2 7DG.
M4:
Leave the motorway at junction 11 (the main A33 exit). At the
roundabout take the exit for the B3270 Earley and Shinfield. Follow this
road for about half a mile. At the roundabout take the first exit
towards Reading (Shinfield Road). Follow this road, going straight over
the mini-roundabout in a small shopping area and then a set of traffic
lights. After another half a mile, and having passed some minor
entrances to Leighton Park, you will find the main entrance on your
right, immediately before a set of traffic lights.
Oxford:
Take the A34 south to the M4; join the motorway eastbound and follow the route above.
A4 East:
As you approach Reading, you encounter the Shepherds House Hill
roundabout with a large garage in the middle. Take the second exit left
(B3350, Earley), at a mini-roundabout bear left (into Church Road), over
a further mini-roundabout, over the A329, to a crossroads with traffic
lights. Go straight ahead, into Wilderness Road. After about half a mile
(at the third mini roundabout), turn right into Pepper Lane. The
entrance to LP is on the left almost directly opposite the entrance to
the University of Reading.
Reading Centre:
Follow directions for A327 Aldershot and Reading University. Initially,
follow A33 Basingstoke if you do not see A327 signs. When on the A327
(Shinfield Road), shortly after the main University entrance, you will
reach a set of traffic lights, go straight ahead and turn almost
immediately left into the school grounds.
By train
Trains from London to Reading depart from Paddington station. Take one of the fast trains – Reading is usually the first stop.
By bus from Reading Station
Turn right out of the station and take a number 9, 12, 20 or 144 bus.
The main entrance is on the Shinfield Road, just after the traffic
lights. Please note the correct fare is required when boarding.
By air
A regular coach service links Heathrow Airport with Reading Station:
the coach stops at every terminal. An hourly train service links Gatwick
Airport with Reading Station.

You will be directed by the internal signposts to Reception where visitor parking is available. Please report to Reception to sign in.
