From age 8, the girls reside together in small dormitories in
‘Butterstone’, the Prep boarding house. We recognise the importance of
providing a comfortable, homely environment for the youngsters, many of
whom will be away from their parents for the first time.
To accommodate the needs of younger children, the Preparatory School
offers boarders a choice of Full, Weekly or Flexi boarding. Rates are
available from the Bursar’s office.
At 13, each girl is given her own study bedroom in ‘Mater’ the Senior
house, so that she can have her own space to think, read, study or just
enjoy time to be herself.
The Deputy Head (Pastoral Care and Boarding), House Mistresses and
Residential Staff encourage a happy environment where the pupils can
flourish in an atmosphere of tolerance, integrity, openness and
thoughtfulness to others.
This Scotland’s leading all girls’ boarding school regards the pastoral care of its girls as fundamental and
it is accepted by everyone at the school as key to the wellbeing and
academic success of the pupil allowing her to develop her full potential
whatever her academic ability.
