Senior School
Our curriculum is broad and varied. The core curriculum of Mathematics, English, Science, Physical Education and Mandarin is supplemented by the Humanities, Languages and the Arts. We offer the internationally recognized qualifications of IGCSE and A-Levels as well as some specific extra English qualifications such as IELTS and the Cambridge ESOL papers.
In Years 8 and 9 students follow a broad compulsory course so they are grounded in a wide range of disciplines. At the end of Year 9 students are given a great deal of guidance as they select the subjects they will study in Year 10 and Year 11 (their iGCSEs). Many of our students will study 11 subjects and we give tailored individual advice about the number and type of GCSEs taking into account particular aptitudes, skills and interests.
After successfully passing all their IGCSEs, students then move on to study fewer subjects in more depth.
Harrow International School Beijing follows the A level programme. Click here If you would like to know more about A levels,

Students who achieve good passes at (I)GCSE are invited to move into the next phase of Harrow International School Beijing and prepare themselves for life at University. This is a two-year programme in Advanced Level (A Level) and AS Level study.
When students enter Year 12 they usually study four subjects at Advanced Subsidiary level (AS). Ideally students should achieve grades A*-B in the subjects they wish to study at AS.

Choose to take part in PE.
Choose to take part in the International Award (completed in activity time).
Take part in TAP lessons (to complete university applications).
Attend tutorial periods.
Take part in and help organise after school activities.
In addition to the academic programme, students work closely with a sixth form tutor who monitors individual progress and supports students as they prepare to make important choices about university and the professions beyond. Students meet with their tutor for individualised tutorials and also meet as a group to follow up on issues raised by guest speakers who are invited to address the Sixth Form.
Following completion of Year 12, students may
Continue with up to three subjects into A level.
Decide not to continue into A level and take up to four new AS levels.
