It is a Quaker boarding school for boys and girls with strong values and traditions. High standards are set academically, in sport, the arts and in the personal lives of every pupil and member of staff. It is a highly respected co-educational, day and boarding HMC School with a long and successful history dating back to 1779. Students of Sixth Form Boarding School at Ackworth enjoy very good facilities. Academic departments are well resourced, provision for games and activities is excellent, there is access to a truly magnificent library and, throughout their time here, Sixth Formers have the use of a study which is usually shared with one other person. Within the study blocks there are also a number of common areas, where students can socialise outside the formal hours of the school day. Students of Sixth Form Boarding School have a vast range of extra-curricular activities to choose from. A comprehensive sporting programme operates during curriculum time, after school and at the weekends. Major sports are on offer to our students including football, hockey, netball, tennis, rounders, swimming and athletics. Alongside these, many other sports are also available including basketball, badminton, table tennis, volleyball, squash, fitness training and fencing. In addition pupils have many opportunities throughout their time at school to develop life long skills such as leadership and team work through the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme, Sports Teams, Music, the Performing Arts, Debating, public speaking, PeaceJam and Student Councils to mention but a few. Throughout the week the extra curricular programme, which takes place during lunch times and after school, offers over 70 activities, covering a diverse range of disciplines including dance, gymnastics, aerobics, silversmithing, drama, art, textiles, DT, IT, model railway club, cyber club, swing band, ensembles, choirs, orchestra, cookery, and many more.

These results are a testament to the hard work of our students, the dedication of our staff and the unfailing support of families.

Sports and physical and mental well-being are very important to today’s students providing them with a positive foundation for their academic work.
