West Buckland School in West Bucckland, Barnstaple was founded in 1858 and is an independent
day and boarding school for boys and girls set in 100 acres of beautiful North Devon
countryside in the South West of England.
Today, West Buckland is a vibrant school with a strong supportive
community, welcoming nearly 700 children aged from three to eighteen
years into our Nursery, Preparatory, Senior School and Sixth Form.
Teaching is challenging and stimulating, and the school has a
consistently high record of academic achievement. Our students also
benefit from exceptional opportunities in sport, music, the performing
arts and a whole host of other extra-curricular activities.
The aims and ethos of our school are to enable all pupils to develop
the personal qualities, abilities and values which will prepare them to
make the most of their own lives and to contribute to society.
We currently have around 130 students studying A-levels in a range of
subjects, enabling them to progress to degree courses of all kinds.
Many students have been at West Buckland throughout their education,
while increasing numbers are joining us after completing their GCSEs at
other schools in the UK. We also welcome sixth formers from many other
