The school community is composed of almost 800 students who come from all over the world and Truro School is the largest HMC independent selective co-educational School in the whole Cornwall. What is more we can be pride that we have the largest representation of the Duke of Edinburgh in the South West and that we can enjoy a beautiful and peaceful surroundings and coast lines.
1 out of 7 students of Truro School can compete at regional, national and international level, either in sport or in a number of other categories. We work together with Truro Fencing Club and our students achieve numerous successes, such as winning bronze, gold and silver medals in number of elite events.
Our Sports Centre is worth over 4 million pounds and it is named in honour of our former pupil and a gold medal winner at the Olympic Games - Sir Ben Ainslie. Ou Sports Centre is one of the biggest in the country and is composed of sports halls, fitness suite, squash courts, dance studions with a 25 metre long swimming pool and number of grass pitches. We cooperate with Sam Lamprey, who is one of top British surfers, and we try to promote Truro School Surf Academy, making use of our location and forming a next top surfers generation!
Truro School may be characterised by its mission and helping to form balanced and respectful young adults. Students are encouraged to be more individual and to try to learn individually by exploring and mastering their skills and talents. 1 out of 3 students of Truro, attend music lessons regularly and many of them are able to play at more than just one instrument. The School is a host of over 70 music performances a year and gives each students a chance to perform on stage. The Burrell Theatre is an auditorium where students can show what they can do and to present others their abilities to perform music. This is also a chance to express and to gain some confidence. All of these elements make up our school and help us to fulfil our mission. Our artists can attend Heseltine Gallery where they can see artists from all over the UK and try to learn something from them, as well as to show their talents.
The school is composed of 4 boarding houses, which gather students ranging form 1st Years to Upper Sixth. Our students can have a great time and make use of all of the School’s facilities, as well as to explore the beauty of Cornwall.
