Introduction

Sevenoaks School (HMC) in Sevenoaksm Kent, England is a coeducational day and boarding school for boys and girls aged 11‑18. One of boarding high schools in UK. Founded in 1432, Sevenoaks provides academic excellence with a strong pastoral and co-curricular emphasis and a global dimension inspired by the International Baccalaureate. Half an hour from Central London and from Gatwick International Airport, it is situated on an attractive 100-acre campus adjoining Knole Park. In 2012 the Department for Education placed Sevenoaks at the top of its GCSE performance tables and ranked us as the top performing Independent School for our superb GCSE and IB results. In 2009 we were described as 'outstanding' in the Ofsted Boarding inspection and in 2008 The Sunday Times chose Sevenoaks as the Independent Secondary School of the Year. There are about 1000 pupils in the school, including international students from 40 countries around the world. Boarding is an important element in the school’s life and ethos. There are about 340 boarders and 640 day pupils in the school. Half of the Sixth Form board.
Year of foundation: 1432
Some history:

Towards the end of the 14th century a child was found abandoned beside the road leading to the tiny town of Sevenoaks. According to the custom he was named after the town. He grew up to become William Sevenoke, Mayor of London, Warden of the Grocers' Company, Warden of London Bridge and a friend of Henry V. In his will of 1432, he provided for the foundation of a grammar school and almshouses at his native Sevenoaks. The school is one of the three oldest lay foundations in England.

For centuries it remained small. Today, admitting boys and girls at 11, 13 and 16, Sevenoaks School has around 1000 pupils including nearly 350 boarders and occupies a 100 acres adjoining the 1000 acres of Knole. The buildings range in style from eighteenth-century Palladian to uncompromisingly contemporary.

Sevenoaks is an Independent School represented on the Headmasters' Conference and the Governing Bodies' Association.
