Boarding High School Accommodation
Residential boarding school set within a wonderful 150-acre campus. Four purpose-built Boarding Houses provide the space for 180 full and weekly Boarders to rest, relax, complete prep, wash and socialise. Boarding at Mill Hill facilitates rich experiences which develop personal skills for well rounded adults to live fulfilling lives.
Boarders develop a close attachment to their particular House, where they live and study under the care of a Housemaster or House Parent who knows them thoroughly and who maintains a close relationship with their families back home. House identity is keenly fostered as part of a close-knit community. Younger pupils’ prep is supervised and supported by House staff. Those who are older are helped to develop the independence that will serve them at university.
The wide boarding community comes together for breakfast, supper and a variety of evening and weekend activities, society meetings, and creative and academic workshops. Boarders enjoy the independence of living away from home and with London on our doorstep, our boarding community is enriched by the cultural opportunities, activities, sports and trips such a vibrant multicultural city provides.
Pupils of this top UK boarding school can choose from a range of additional activities, which take place both at lunchtime and after lessons. From orchestra to ultimate Frisbee – there’s something for all interest:
Academic Workshops, Board Games, CCF – Army, Navy and the RAF, Chess, Community Action, Computing, Creative Writing, Debating and Public Speaking, Enterprise Education Group, Eton Fives, Foreign Film, History Society, ICT, Martlet Award for Fourth Form pupils, Modern Languages Society, Philosophy Club,
Annually this Best UK Boarding School runs in excess of 100 day visits and 30 residential trips during term time.
These trips range from visits designed to enrich the academic programme of this top boarding school, spectacular sports and music tours and trips which expose our pupils to new cultures and experiences. It could be argued that the ‘headline’ trips are the partnership tours to Zambia and India. During these wonderful trips our Lower Sixth pupils work with young children that are less fortunate than our pupils. Another very exciting trip is the planned senior Hockey and Rugby tour to Japan. This trip coincides with the 2019 world cup.
Two exciting trips planned for 2018 are Business Studies trip to China and also Dubai Rugby tour, both in the Autumn term.
Here is a snapshot of the visits that have gone out in the past 12 months.
Visit to the All England Tennis Tournament, Wimbledon, Flying trips to RAF Wittering, English trip to the National Theatre to watch Twelfth Night, Politics trip to the Model UN and Washington DC, The 10K Colour Run, London, Music trips to Oxford and Cambridge Universities, Jazz Band performing at Allianz Park during a Saracens rugby match, Spanish Trip to San Sebastian, French exchange trip to Rouen, Art Trip to New York, Ski trips to Austria, CCF Trip to Longmoor.
