Lime House School was founded in 1899 in Wetheral, which was a small village situated about 5 miles away from Carlisle. In 2012, three Lime House School additional document were found and we believe that these confirm another 34 years of existence of our School.
Lime House School is devoted to providing a rigorous academic and intellectual education which is aimed to challenge our students and which offer a fast progression and development of their personal skills.
Students who enter the Sixth Form and want to study a subject to AS or A2 levels should have obtained a minimum grade of C at GCSE level in that subject. From time to time some students are admitted onto A level courses with lower grades however, there might occur some special conditions for this. All of our students should have similar qualification in order to keep the high level of education which we provide.
Most of our students are full boarders however, we have a small number of those who return home for the weekend. All students are housed on the Main School and there are several floors of dormitories and common rooms. The boys are set in Rothley, Hawksdale, Lonsdale and Salkeld boarding areas. All girls now occupy new dormitory – ‘The Cottage’.
