This one of the top of boarding schools extends a warm, family atmosphere to all within the community: pupils, teaching and non-teaching staff and parents. At the heart of this Christian boarding school lies fundamental ethos that: ‘Happy Children Succeed.’ Boarding ethos helps create confidence and independence in all children, whether boarding or those from local families, and a proportion of children move on to day, as well as boarding, senior schools. One of fundamental aims is 'Pupil Enrichment.' Traditional values and high standards, supported by a strong Christian ethos, are expected. This small private boarding school values virtues such as compassion, competition, independence, self-esteem and resilience, as much as they do examination grades. FSM is an academic school with a mixed ability intake to enable every pupil to benefit from a holistic education that will prepare them thoroughly for their next school and adult life.
At this boarding school in Hampshire there are options for full and weekly boarding, as well as flexi boarding where space allows. Full boarders stay in at weekends, with weekly boarders going home on Saturdays after fixtures and returning either Sunday night or Monday morning. There is always a degree of flexibility for both options, however. Many weekly boarders choose to stay in for the weekend and some of our full boarders may, very occasionally, go out for the weekend.
A rounded education requires children to learn outside of the classroom as well as inside it. This Hampshire boarding school is an accredited Forest School and as well as taking learning outside whenever it is possible, all children up to Year 4 have timetabled Forest School time. This one of the best boarding school arranges plenty of outings and excursions designed to give all the children, from nursery to Year 8, valuable learning experiences within and beyond the normal school curriculum. The highlight is Project Week which involves all the children taking part in a wide range of activities and projects both on and off site.
Learning is the main purpose of this top independent boarding school, and is the method through which the school offers a broad and challenging curriculum. The Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum and National Curriculum are the important elements that lie at the heart of our learning. They present a clear and full entitlement to learning for all pupils. They set out content, attainment targets and levels of progress. Furthermore, for academic subjects in Years 6, 7 and 8, the ISEB’s Common Entrance syllabuses, which are largely based upon the National Curriculum, determine content.

The main aim of the games programme at this wonderful boarding school is to provide every child with the opportunity to challenge, develop and improve their skills and knowledge at the appropriate level. Whilst we attempt to give everyone the chance to represent the school during their time here, we are looking to focus upon skill acquisition of the various activities that we provide, as well as trying to build a life-long enthusiasm for physical activity. Over the course of a year, this one of the top boarding schools provides a large number of opportunities for all the children to represent the school in a number of sports. This co-educational boarding school will field teams in football, rugby, hockey, netball, cricket, tennis, athletics, rounders, swimming and cross country. We endeavour to challenge everyone to perform to their best and we are able to push some children towards representative honours. In the last few years many FSM children have gone on to achieve regional and national honours, especially when we have been competing against schools much larger than FSM. Individuals have also triumphed and regional, national and even international level.
Participation in performance gives a child confidence and boosts imagination and communication skills. Drama at this boarding school is a timetabled subject, however classes and teachers also work together to use drama to build links across the curriculum. Similarly all teachers are encouraged to use drama to bring their subjects alive. Spontaneity, improvisation and perfection in performance of any kind (both in front of and behind the scenes) are worthy goals for which to strive and drama provides another worthy platform upon which FSM children can excel.
