Top boarding school Switzerland! Beau Soleil offers two distinct, parallel systems: a French Section and an International Section.
The classes in the French Section extend from 6ème to Terminale, and prepare students for
the official French government examinations 0 the Diplôme National du Brevet at the end of
3ème and the French Baccalaureate (series L, ES and S) at the end of Terminale. The subjects
taught in the French Section conform to the require ments of the French Ministry of
Education. English is compulsory at all levels except Terminale. Students in 5ème are
offered an introduction to Spanish and Italian. One of these subjects is compulsory from
4ème upwards. German may be offered, depending on numbers. Chinese (language and
culture) is also available for all students in 5ème and 4ème. In 1ère and Terminale additional
languages (Russian, Arabic, Catalan, Modern Greek, Polish, Romanian for example) may be
taken on either as private lessons. International Section. nternational Section
The classes in the International Section extend from 6th Grade to 12th Grade, and prepare
students for the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) at the end of 10
th Grade and the International Baccalaureate (IB) and High School Diploma at the end of 12
th Grade. Subjects other than languages are taught in English. Students are placed in the
appropriate grade based on their prior academic history, achievement and social and
academic maturity. IB The IB Diploma Programme provides a broad, rigorous preparation for future university
studies. It is designed to strike a balance between breadth and depth of study. Students must choose six subjects for study, and these must include at least two languages, a social science, an experimental science, mathematics and e
ither an arts subject or an additional option. English is a mandatory subject for all students. In addition all students must study Theory of Knowledge, complete an Extended Essay and fulfil the requirements of the Creativity, Action and Service (CAS) component of the programme. Students at Beau Soleil are entered for the full IBDP, in which they must offer three subjects at higher level (HL) and three at standard level (SL). In exceptional cases and on the recommendation of the Academic Director only, they may be prepared for IB certificates in individual subjects.
Students who meet the established standard are eligible for a Beau Soleil High School Diploma.
