An Intensive English (IE) Language Course is available to those students who need to improve their English language level as quickly as possible before embarking on an academic course. Each IE course is tailored to the individual academic needs of the student, helping to prepare them as thoroughly as possible for their GCSE, A level or UFP course with an opportunity to sit for IELTS examinations. English Language is also an integral part of academic courses such as GCSE and A level, ensuring continued improvement of the students’ linguistic abilities. Teaching methods are innovative and varied with the teachers employing the most modern learning techniques and approaches. Flexible start dates are available throughout the academic year. GCSE is an examination that most English students take at the age of 16 in between four and eight subjects. At Brooke House a full range of GCSE courses. GCE A level is one of the world’s most recognised qualifications, leading students to direct university entry. To obtain this qualification, students undertake a two year course in three to four subjects normally starting at the age of 16. After one year of study, students may sit an AS level in the subject, which they have been studying, since these have been de-coupled from A levels and are now a free-standing qualification in their own right. At the end of the two year course, the full A level examination is taken.
