The curriculum of this secondary boarding school is designed by UAL faculty, and it provides a mix of A-level and portfolio programmes that take in academic and artistic subjects. The staff are available after hours, as are the studio facilities. Students are encouraged to manage their time wisely and to get involved in after-school activities.
The focus is on A-level subjects in graphics, fine art, photography and textiles. Second-year A-level students also follow the Creative Learning and Skills Programme (CLASP), which operates in association with UAL’s Central Saint Martins College of Arts and Design. Upon completion, students can enrol in the Foundation Plus Course, an accelerated summer programme that offers the equivalent of a Saint Martins Foundation Diploma in Art and Design.
Extracurricular
This art boarding school in England actively encourages students to engage in a wide variety of activities that build on both academic and personal development. These include a weekly lecture series, workshops organised by art experts and regular guest speakers from leading art and design institutions around the world.
Activities
Building on the arts-focused syllabus, students are also introduced to the rich and diverse cultural life of nearby London and surrounding areas. Close proximity to the capital facilitates visits to world famous museums, art galleries and artist studios. The visits include exhibitions, talks and workshops to allow students to engage with the subject matter at hand. These activities benefit from special access to our Honorary President Professor Jimmy Choo, as well as other UAL alumni.
The combination of on and off campus social activities provides students with an opportunity to gain a better understanding of British culture, as well as introduces them to new interests.
Regular day trips allow students to enjoy quintessentially English activities such as fish and chips by the seaside, ice-skating at Windsor Castle and walks in the countryside.
ISCA art summer School 2018 comprises many creative and cultural opportunities working under a broad and exciting theme. Students will be guided through a series of dynamic art and design assignments by experienced ISCA tutors. Skills and styles of working are introduced and developed within the subject areas of Fine Art, Fashion and Graphic Communications.
As a special addition for this year, students will also have the choice to study on Summer Plus, which is a preliminary week designed to deepen understanding of art and design, and also develop skills in drawing and colour work.
During ISCA Art Summer School 2018, students will visit some of the country's most prestigious museums and best-known landmarks and these provide important research starting points and inspirations. The hope is that students will discover not only new creative talents, but also a wealth of cultural experiences. Throughout the programme, students can attend English language lessons to support their studies and improve their ability to communicate.
As well as learning new skills, students will also gain a greater understanding of how art and design is taught in the UK education system.
