There are 440 students at the college, some of whom are preparing for A Levels, some studying for their GCSEs, and some studying for BTECs and International Foundation
An increasing number of students join us at the start of Upper Sixth. They may have become disenchanted with their schools, or have been studying A Level subjects which they now regret taking. Others will have done less well in their AS exams than expected and it is felt that an intensive year preparing for A2 is needed to ensure the best possible A Level results. Some of these students will be recommended to follow a one year intensive A Level course if they have not satisfactorily mastered the content of the AS syllabus. Others will continue at A2 level in the normal way, and can retake AS modules if marks were disappointing. Where students have studied a syllabus with a different examination board, permission is usually granted by the receiving examining board to allow the AS result to be transferred to the A2 exam board.
Academic English

Academic English forms the educational foundation for any international student studying with DLD College Londyn , whatever course they follow, as English is the language for both teaching and learning.
Every student’s language target is to achieve a minimum of 6.5 in the IELTS exam (International English Language Testing System). It is compulsory to study this course until this is achieved, although we recommend students study beyond this score. There are various courses to follow to do this, depending on the English level at the start (which we will assess upon arrival).
The IELTS exam is as important as any A level subjects, Foundation course, BTEC qualification or GCSE and must be taken alongside these, because the demonstration of academic English skills of a certain level (generally 6.5) is a pre-requisite for entry to all good universities. Further to this, universities such as Oxford, Cambridge, LSE, Imperial and UCL often ask for 7.0/7.5.
