Art Performing School in England Established in 1885 as a specialist institution, arts university bournemouth is a leading university offering high quality specialist education in art, design, media and performance across the creative industries.
AUB’s stunning state-of-the-art campus is a creative hub designed for specialists. The spaces are divided into villages, boulevards, green space and infrastructure. Outline expansion plans for this performing art school campus were approved in December 2016. The outline application included the construction of up to 14,000sqm of new academic buildings and accommodation for 300 students at its Wallisdown campus. The project provides an exciting opportunity for the University and the wider area and will be important in maintaining the University’s international reputation as a leading arts university and allow for the continuing modernisation of its campus.

AUB helps you get settled quickly in the accommodation that’s right for you. There is a range of halls of residence, each offering something unique – from the bustle of the town centre, to the quiet of residential streets. From modern self-contained studio flats to more traditional en-suite rooms in cluster flats or shared residential houses, there is something for everyone: Bath Road Lansdowne, Bournemouth town centre, Madeira Road Lansdowne, Bournemouth town centre, Hurn House, Lansdowne, Bournemouth town centre, Winton Halls Wimborne Road, Winton, George Close Ensbury Park. Alternatively, a number of first year students look to live in shared rented accommodation in areas including Bournemouth town centre, Winton, Charminster and Ensbury Park. Living in private rented accommodation can often be cheaper.
Activities vary each year, but always include ‘Freshers Week‘ and Graduation Ball. Each year, elections are held for the sabbatical (President, Vice-President) and volunteer positions which can include, Events Officer, Communications Officer and Equality and Diversity Officer.
AUBSU run lots of clubs and societies. You can even start your own if you don’t find one that suits you. AUB students can also join Clubs and Societies with SUBU – Bournemouth University Students’ Union – who have over 100.
University Music offers a wide range of musical opportunities to students, staff and members of the local community and we cater for all levels of ability and musical interests – AUB students have the same access as BU students.

The International Art, Design and Media Intensive Course (IADM) is a preparatory course in art design and media, with an option to study an integrated programme of English language tuition, alongside the creative aspects of the course. Students can develop their creative skills and produce a professional portfolio of work ready to progress to one of our degree courses within just 23 weeks.

Preparation for Masters
This course is specifically aimed at students and professionals who need to develop their creative understanding of their chosen subject or increase their English language scores before being accepted onto a Masters course. Students will join undergraduates on selected modules to refine individual capabilities and receive mentoring from tutors, who will provide on going support and guidance to help students improve sufficiently for Masters.

AUB students can use the sports facilities at Bournemouth University, just across the road. Theres a Gym, and plenty of classes and clubs to join – see it all at SportBU. AUB students pay the same rates as BU students.
Bournemouth has a range of sporting activities that cater for all abilities and requirements.
BH Live provides four different sports centres for local residents to use and enjoy their facilities.
Next door to the AUB campus, SportBU at Bournemouth University offers student gym membership at a discounted price, allowing you to take advantage of the different classes and equipment on offer.
You can also take advantage of the Give it a Go programme, run by the AUB Students’ Union. Being a member lets you try as many of our social sports as you like (normally £2.50 per session), including:
Yoga, Hockey, Jogging, Football, Tae Kwon Do, Netball, Fencing, Tennis, Badminton.
If you attend six sessions of any sport (or a mix) during the term, you will receive a free Give it a Go hoody.
The Olympic sized Velodrome at Slades Farm Open Space in Ensbury Park, is a popular place to train and socialise. Annual volleyball competitions are held on Boscombe beach and attract teams from all over the world. Bournemouth also holds an annual marathon festival, which is another reason to get those running trainers on and get active. If running is not your thing, you could always swim pier-to-pier. Old Harry Rocks is a popular viewpoint for walkers or for an alternative way to see the coast, kayaks are available to hire at Poole Harbour and Boscombe.
You’ve got to take advantage of our location, so naturally, watersports are big down here. Taking up surf lessons is a great way to learn a new skill as well as meeting other people.
Surf lessons are available in both Bournemouth and Boscombe and run all year round and offer classes from basics to the advanced. If you don’t have the equipment, then there are shops that you can buy or hire the gear from.
Kite surfing and Paddleboarding are also becoming really popular. For the really daring amongst you, you can go Coasteering (jumping off cliffs into the sea – fully supervised of course.)

This exciting 2 week inclusive course is fully residential with students experiencing life on a state-of-the art university campus and also in the university accommodation. It has been specifically designed for young students with a keen interest in the arts, providing them with a stimulating experience to explore creative pathways and develop skills for the future. It’s a hands-on course, combines creative teaching with a variety of workshops and practical sessions.
Afternoon creative sessions will take place on campus where students can enjoy a range of pre-planned activities, workshops and entertainment. There are also activities and day trips planned for the weekend.

By Rail
Bournemouth Train Station is served by a fast inter-city rail link from London Waterloo. There are also regular trains from Poole, Southampton and other major cities. The Wallisdown Campus is about 1.5 miles from the train station and a 5-10 minute journey by taxi.
By Bus or Coach
Bournemouth is well connected by coach. It takes about 2 ½ hours to get here from London. The Bournemouth Train/Coach Station (known as the Travel Interchange) is next to the railway station.
